Having a baby in Bangalore.

Congratulations to S and N, soon to be mommas who mailed me and since both of them are in Bangalore, I thought this post will have lots of information for them. If you are planning to have a baby in Bangalore, this is a must read.

I lucked out with a very good doctor who was willing to listen to all my concerns (I talked to her about not wanting a C-section, for example; I was pretty nervous that I would be pressured into having a C-section), explain to me why something was prescribed and generally make the birth a collaborative process. This was a pleasant surprise. I had heard that doctors stood on a pedestal and told patients what needed to be done, without any explanations.

Don't forget to go through the comment section for lots of useful information on Hospitals and Doctors.

Interesting read! Most of it was similar to my experience when I delivered my daughter in Indore, M.P. Now I am looking forward to a new experience in the US which, I am sure, will be 100 times better than my previous experience. The first time things were so bad (or so I feel) that I couldn't shake the resulting depression for 5 years. Anyhoo, I am writing a post on it - my first birthing story. It will definitely be interesting to see how it differs fromt eh second one - only time will tell.

Hey Boo, I had no problems viewing your blog until last night. Now it says it is open only to "invited viewers". Did something change? Am I no longer invited to view the content? (**SOB**)

Sorry CK. It was a temporary glitch! I was playing around with the template and screwed up somewhere!
I had a good experience in Swiss with my delivery and was raving about it so much that friends asked me if I was going to Swiss again for the second one!! Yeah right! ;)

I have been practicing yoga for almost 2 years now and have benefited tremendously from it. Once I got pregnant, I was looking for pre-natal yoga classes on the outer ring road, and came across Bhaswati's class through the internet. I called her up and found myself comfortable with her, and decided to join the classes. The breathing exercises and the asanas themselves are gentle and have helped me stave off any pregnancy related aches and pains so far! She takes the pains to elaborate the benefits of each asana, and gives individual attention to each participant. This would have never been possible in a bigger class. Her tips for delivery, post delivery and breast feeding were very welcome and much appreciated. I am going to continue her classes for awhile, as I see lots of benefits coming my way!

Hi,

I went to Bhaswati on outer ring road, near Intel office. Bhaswati takes time to understand your requirements and helps you learn the asanas that treat your problems. Though the classes are once a week the direction they provide helps you stay on course. She explains how each asana takes care of a particular issue. Knowing the theory behind the exercise ensures that you can customize your routine in later stages of pregnancy. Her knowledge regarding diet, doctors and procedures, besides yoga, provides good guidance.

I attended pre-natal yoga classes conducted by Bhaswati Seal near Marathahalli, Bangalore. Though I was not much into gymming or exercising during my pre-pregnancy days, Bhaswati understood my abilities and suggested asanas for the same. The two things I liked best were 1. She would recommend asanas based on the issues that you were facing 2. She has a reserve of knowledge which is especially useful for first-time to be moms like me staying away from families.

Bhaswati Seal is based near Marathalli-Sarjapura area and it was a convenient location for me as I am based out of Bellandur,Bangalore. Her immense knowledge on type of diet, exercise and overall wellness was very beneficial for me and now i'm 31 weeks pregnant and looking forward to the birth of my baby with confidence and good well being. Definitely recommend her! Her contact details are as follows in case anyone is interested.

I am very happy going to Dr Debmita Dutta. She has a clinic in Ulsoor opposite Nilgiris. She conducts Antenatal Classes. You can call her on 9611739400. She explained everything I wanted to know in great detail and in very simple language with lots of examples.

Bhaswati's classes were a great find! I had a somewhat rough first trimester and needed someone who I could trust as I pushed myself physically. She carefully took note of my background, diet and overall health/physical fitness situation. And in every class, made sure that those were addressed through specific exercises and do's/don'ts. During the classes, I faced another health challenge and she was nice enough to adjust my sessions and yoga routines to work around those issues. The small batch size and personalised attention definitely make it easier to stay focussed and get the maximum benefit from prenatal yoga. While her flexibility allows individual needs to be addressed as well. Would happily recommend her classes to anyone.

I took the prenatal yoga classes at Srimoyi yoga at 22 weeks of my pregnancy and it has been really beneficial. Though I didn't have any major problems as such it has really helped me to stay fit and stressfree so far and m sure it's gonna help me a great deal for a smooth delivery . All the smallest of my concerns and nutrition needs were addressed really well by Mrs Bhaswati Seal which has definitely made my pregnancy a smooth one so far. I would strongly recommend prenatal yoga at Srimoyi yoga for every expectant mum and u'll see the benefits for yourself. Best of luck!! Cheers n happy pregnancy!!

I work as a nutritionist (freelancer), and I attended prenatal yoga class for a month at Srimoyi yoga. I would say, her classes gave me a clear perspective of how I have to prepare my body and mind for healthy pregnancy. Unlike others she clearly understands that every individual is different and their needs too. She gives personalized attention to their health concerns and guides them based on their needs. The diet plan which she gives is an added advantage. I would recommend her to any mom's-to-be who is looking for an enjoyable healthy pregnancy.

Massage for new born babies and mother has been an ancient tradition in India followed across the country. Several studies done recently now confirm the benefit of this practice followed for generations, that a good and careful massage of the just delivered mother and the new born lays a strong foundation for speedy recovery of mother and makes for a healthy baby. Our postnatal massage services are specially created to help mothers take the benefit of this very valuable practice. This is delivered at the convenience of your home by trained nurse-maids who are supervised by a professional management. It is recommended to start this soon after the mother and baby are back from hospital. The overall duration is 90-120 minutes which includes massage and bath for both mother and baby. The minimum recommendation duration is 30 days which can be customized if possible.
